Do not fear from their faces, for I am with you to deliver you.– Jeremiah 1:8
This is what I found the Hebrew to say when I looked it up a few years ago and wrote it on my travel coffee mug. (I’ve written a few variations, but it technically says “Do not fear from…”)
When I was gone last night my husband put the mug in the dishwasher, which chipped away more at the already-needing-to-be-redone Hebrew and Greek that I’ve written on my mug. (I do not mind that one bit, but I’ll point out not wanting this one in there! This is my favorite use of nail polish, btw 😁.)
As I was refreshing this phrase, I was reminded of how encouraging this passage in Jeremiah is.
When God has called you, do not let characteristics such as youth (for Jeremiah) or sex (for women) discourage you!
Speak (or write) whatever God commands of you, and do not be afraid of their faces (in person or facebook photo 😉 ).
If God is for us, who can be against us? … It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship or distress or persecution [or dismissal or neglect]? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

I like C. S. Lewis and feel kindred with Teresa of Avila (her theology, too). I love God's truth, even though it challenges me to love more than I know how and stretches beyond the limits of my understanding. God's strength is sufficient; God's grace makes me who I am and grants what I do not have—when I place myself under God's lead. This is where I've found joy, and this is the freedom I proclaim through my life and writing. Kristin has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science (2003) with a minor in Biblical and Theological Studies (2018, Northwestern College, IA). Kristin earned a Master of Arts Degree from Western Theological Seminary (MI) in 2021, having enjoyed a total of 7 semesters studying the original Hebrew and Greek of Scripture. She's taught college courses in Philosophy, Marriage and Family, Body Stewardship, and World Religions. You can also find Kristin's shoe reviews at RunningShoesGuru.com where she writes to share the joy of shoe intricacies and the specific oddities of the running life with others.
As the name of this blog indicates, Kristin can usually be found with a form of coffee: black or with cream; cold press with vanilla, French press, or whipped into a beautiful Dalgona creation. Though admittedly more comfortable behind a screen Kristin would treasure a chance to meet with you over coffee to discuss the topics in this blog or whatever weighs heavy in your life. (I'm trusting God into uncomfortable but necessary [and ultimately life-giving] things, too 😘 )
